power supply upgrade

I'm looking for a psu upgrade what brand is the best on a budget of 150nzd, i was thinking maybe a 600w be quiet pure power 9 the non modular version or a corsair cx 550m using an i5 2400, 2x 4gb ddr3 1600, and a sapphire nitro+ rx480 8gb

When I build my next computer it's most likely going to be using this.  But I'd use a PSU Tier list and look at your options, get a rebrand of a good company or something of those sorts.

Personally i would go with modular PSU, have look at XFX there have some good 750 watts for around 150 AUD (XFX XTR Series Gold 750W) on pccasegear.

PSU tier lists should be the last thing to recommend as they're usually inaccurate. 

To OP, the CX550M is a modified RM550 so it's actually good for the money.

Yes, the Corsair unit is better by a decent margin.

Are you sure about that a CX v4 and RM are based on the same platform?

I'm pretty sure it's heavily based on the RM series. If it isn't then fuck, but either way it's generally a well performer for the price.

It does not matter if they are the same or not. I know the CX v4 is a modified Vengeance which is very good and if the Vengeance is a modified RM, it just shows it was easier to modify an existing platform, Also note the Corsair RM is a heavily modified CWT CSG.
