What headphones

I am looking for a pair of headphones and cannot decide which ones to get. I was thinking of getting the Bose quiet comfort 35's but now I don't know. I am looking for excellent sound quality for $100 more or less than the Bose. Any suggestions from all you audio files out there??

Do you need active noise cancelling?   Makes a HUGE difference to price.

tbh Bose isnt the best sounding headphones

 

What kind of soundstage? 

 

What kind of sounds? Neutral Sounding, Analytical Sounding, Brighter, Bassy? / Music genre

 

Impedence? (if at the higher ranges of 250Ohms ~ 600Ohms, an HP AMP is required)

I just want some really good sounding headphones that are good for on the go. I was looking into the sennheiser HD 598s but they don't seem so portable.

the 598's arent made for on the go, and they're open, made for reference / listening at home
