I'm soon going to do a big upgrade on my computer.

But i've reached a dilemma, choosing a CPU.

I'll take all the help and opinions i can get, now to businesses.

The CPU i'm looking for should be good for games both now and in the future. and should perform as well or better when doing work related tasks (video editing & 3D renderings)

I've had my eyes on the Intel i7 6800K and the 6700K for some time but can't make a decision.

Also I want to keep the price no higher than what a 6800K goes for.

Thank you

The 6800K can be worth it for you (not for gaming, but for editing and 3D modeling), since it has 2 cores and thus 4 threads more than the 6700K. However, the 6800K can only go on X99 motherboards, which are more expensive than Z170 motherboards, so that's a more expensive CPU and more expensive motherboard.

the 6800 being the hex core would give you faster rendering in 3d applications IF the program in question supports mroe than 4 cores.. if not it would go to the 6700 as it has a .4ghz faster base clock speed.

Get a 5820K if it's cheaper than a 6800K. In heavy workload performance, they're basically the same and the 5820K retails for much less, not to mention handles higher stable overclocks.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here
