A program/website that test specs in games virtually?

Go to solution Solved by Crowes,

To be honest, i think someone's gone to the trouble of logging these results throughout the history of LMG, and they just refer back to it; or they use someone else's and give credit. But come on, most PCs within a certain price bracket perform very similar.

Hi! So i've been watching a bunch of linus tech tips, and i watched a video named: "Badass full gaming pc cheaper than a cpu???"

In the video there is a chart of game performance based on specs i suppose since he doesen't actually have the suggested build at his hands.

My question here is, what program / website is Luke using to see game performance based just on specs, and if he isn't using one just based on specs but actually has the build and is able to test it there, what program could i use?
I'm building a PC next month and i'm interested in what it might be able to run theoretically, i know it differs from reality!

TL:DR Program / website where u can plot your specs in and see what your build will be able to run, without having the machine physically.

Your first PC it sounds like. Why do you want a program like this? It's kind of useless.

Its called experience. LMG tests GPUs and CPUs they review by running them through several gaming benchmarks. Luke and Jon are main people doing that. From those numbers, like running each new GPU and CPU through tests, they can give professional guess about performance.

Rest of us will use our own experience on how our PC can run games, how we have seen other parts perform in reviews etc. List specs and you will get responses on what games, on which resolution and settings you are able to play.

That's what i thought, it makes more sense! Thanks for your answer, i'm about to post my build in here, i will ask them what my build will be able to run then!

Since it's my first PC build, and i own a 5 year old laptop, i have no idea what it might be able to run at what settings, so just to give me a baseline actually.

Have you got any ideas of what parts you want? Or do you have a budget in mind that we can help you plan parts with? We can't really give you an idea of performance unless we know this :)
