Hello everyone,

so...

microsoft downloaded windows 10 without me knowing and now my computer is telling me to restart to install it.

How in the world can i delete that update without screwing up my computer or stop it from updating?

im using windows 7 on my programming build and its literally this thing in control panel that says restart now to install windows 10 - it isn't forcing me to do it but it constantly pops up and im afraid ill accidentaly click the button once

You can't prevent Windows 10 from updating *sadface*

 

You can however tell Windows to restart at different time

Im asking if i could possibly delete windows 10 - it's not installed, but its downloaded

You have to postpone the update every time it asks you to update. Other than that there aren't any solution to completely remove.

Be careful. My Parents computer installed windows 10 by itself without them restarting it. It may automatically restart.

if that happens, all my virtual machines with important work on it worth hundreds of hours will all be gone. i should take this case to a mass-torts lawyer, they'd make a killing off of suing microsoft for automatically updating and losing valuable work

I think you can disable wuaserv. (Windows update services).

DO NOT, change your thread title like that, if everyone did that the forum would be filled with "CLOSED" threads and finding anything would be impossible.

 

Please change back your thread title to an accurate description of the problem.
