OK, so I am going to build a pc soon within the next two months, right now I a making sure I am getting the best bang for my buck without it looking like a pile of junk (Large glass window on case).

I have been looking at Intel cpus for a long time now and I fit an I7 6700 into my budget along with an B150 Gaming M3 motherboard, I was wondering if there was an AMD cpu that costs the same or less with more performance and a motherboard that doesnt look bad while also supporting my Corsair Vengence led 16gb DDR4-2666 ram and maybe costing less. my computer will be used for mainly gaming and browsing the internet with light to no video editing

Heres my current plans:

This is the actual Case I will be using:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353111&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Cases+(Computer+Cases+-+ATX+Form)-_-N82E16811353111&gclid=CjwKEAjw34i_BRDH9fbylbDJw1gSJAAvIFqUNmYxf-3J4Dm7czy6DtpiaLbNeWpZQ-5w97O3-wPr9xoClMTw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Intel all the way. High reliablity and performance, RMA's and customer service great. Last AMD processor i had nearly ruined my laptop.

I was originally going to go for the msi gtx 1060 but I remembered how a friend of mine's computer went from being a super computer to a potato and I wanted to Future proof it a little more for if DX12 becomes a thing

There isn't even one with the same performance, let alone better. If you have a good budget -which you do-, you should never buy AMD.

What was that PC for again? Lots of wrong stuff there, though we need to know your goal before fixing it all.

AMD doesn't make laptops so you couldn't have sent a RMA request to AMD, and it was most likely a crappy oem that was the issue.

If Zen is good then people are gonna start buying AMD

Let's talk about the future once we actually get there. Until then, though, no AMD for high budget builders

Oh. In that case,

  1. Get a cheaper PSU. No reason get a 750w one, you are just wasting money that would be better spend elsewhere. Get something in the 500~550w range. Pay extra for modularity or 80+ Gold if you want, but don't pay for more wattage. You simply don't need it.
  2. 16gb is enough. Getting 32gb is, once again, paying extra for useless stuff rather than paying for things that will actually improve your experience.
  3. Speaking of which, B150 mobos don't take advantage of faster speed RAM. In other words, paying more for a 2666 or 2400mhz kit of RAM is, again, paying extra for useless stuff. Save a couple bucks there. Alternatively, change your mobo to any Z170 one (no matter how cheap it is) so that you can take advantage of faster RAM.
  4. Next on the list, the cooler. Frankly, you don't really need a 212 EVO, it's overkill for a locked CPU. I'd rather use the stock cooler and maybe upgrade down the round, investing the current budget into more important things. Which brings us to,
  5. The GPU. Put a Gtx 1060 6gb in there. Or perhaps even a 1070, if the savings above are enough to get you to that prize point.
  6. Or, I guess you could invest into a pretty case...
  7. Or even a good set of peripherals. Mainly, a mechanical keyboard and a nice wireless audio solution (die with fire, you filthy wires!).

You still cannot say "never" and can say "maybe in the future but for now its a nono"

Matter of wording. I'm not using "never" reffering to past, present and future, I'm using it in the context of any possible situation right now.

Regardless, you get my point. We're both saying the same thing here.

I do but still AMD is good, instead of buying a bakery you just buy a FX 9590 and 3x GTX 480's

Ok I see and get all your points but there is a reason I am kinda going overboard with some things

1. I choose the 750 watt psu because my friends psu just went bad and it was a pain to diagnose that it went bad and not the motherboard, the other reason I wanted this is because if I wanted to upgrade my pc I dont have to buy it again, also another reason is because I need it to power my led ram and multiple fans

2. Im only get 16gb of ram and the reason im getting it as 2666 is because that is the cheapest type of ram with leds

3. Is there a specific mobo that you would recommend that doesnt look terrible? (im ok with it not looking the best but I want it not to look like an green sheet with brown connectors)

4. I am getting the cooler to try and keep the sound down from the computer.(Parents hate the sound)

5. I was originally going to get the msi Gtx 1060 6gb but I wanted to future proof it for DX12

6. I have a pretty case with a large glass window. :)

7.For my peripherals I already have a mouse and keyboard and I will be getting the Redragon Karura for christmas, I need a fast response time so I need wires. :(

  1. Any PSU can go bad. Regardless of wattage. As for the upgrade argument, I'll just tell you this: unless you are willing to spend 1200$ on 2x1080 or a Titan XP, you do not need more wattage.
  2. -
  3. That's up to preference and availability. Here's the quick guide: if it's not Z170, then they are pretty much the same thing. Get the cheapest you think looks good. If it's Z170, there are other things to care about, but you don't need to worry about any of them, given that you won't be OCing your CPU. To answer it directly, though, there's no specific one I'd recommend.
  4. -
  5. You are banking on tech that is slowly being adopted. As well as needing a better API to have the 480 first catch up to the 1060 for only then to surpass, which is also assuming the 1060 is getting no bonus from that. Quite frankly, I still don't see API future proofness as good idea. I understand the argument and why people go with that option, but I don't think we're quite getting there yet.
  6. -
  7. I was talking about wireless on the headphone, not the keyboard / mice.

1. Also another reason I was going with a 750w psu is because it costs as much as an 650w with a rebate where I am

3.Ill look into it

5. I Just want to make sure I dont buy something that will be outdated in a year or so, and im only sacrificing about 5-10 fps, which in my eyes is not that much.

7. Oh, Well I already have some 50$ turtle beach headphones but yea wired headphones suck. xD
