Hey folks!

So i'm starting to think that a new Graphics Card will be a good upgrade for me, since i feel like my current one, won't perform so well in the years to come.

First off i want to list some of my specs, so you can get an idea of what is compatible.

Intel i7-4770k

Azus-z87 plus

Nvidia geforce 760

16 GB DDR3 ram.

As far as i can tell my CPU will still be good in the future.

My budget is roughly 575$/510€/438£

So i'm thinking of either going with a Rx 480 8gb, a 1060 6 gb or a 1070.

As of now i'm playing on 1080p with 60 Hz, and i'm really happy with that, imo is still looks super good!

I play Runescape mostly, but whenever a big games come out i useally get it and complete it.

So what would you recommend for me? Is there any reason to go for the more expensive 1070 Card? Or should i go for a cheaper one maybe?

I prefer to play games with as high Graphics as possible but fps > Graphics :P

cheers,

Matt

Save your money and get a 1060. No need to spend so much money when your motherboard + cpu is going to be outdated soon.

1060 is good for 1080p. It depends how much your looking into the future. The 1060 will be consitant and perform really well, but as AAA's and bigger titles come out, the 1060 might struggle. It is not unheard of for there to be a game the 1060 can't handle on 1080p.

Also, if you wanted to move into VR or higher res like 1440, you would be better off with a 1070.

I also play at 1080p 60HZ and I went for a 1070. I like having the option ot upgrade. I was considering 1 1060 and just SLI'ing if I wanted an upgrade, but SLI sucks imo.

tl;dr - if your happy spending the brink of your budget, go for a 1070. For £430 you can get the MSI gaming X version.

EDIT : If you want FPS and graphics, the 1070 will without a doubt run everything on 1080p. Even those ridiculously intesive games nobody can run like that one driving game that I forgot the name of the 1070 runs at 60fps.

Both sides bring their own benefits

On AMD side you get for the RX480 DX12/Vulkan support,Asych Compute,over-enginnered(ages well),it's cheaper(depending on location) and Crossfire (if we want to compare the 1060 with RX series)

But you have to deal with shitty 3rd party vendors and their shitty cooling solutions

On Nvidia side you get good non-reference cards which are a bit expensive but are better than their AMD counterparts,Shadowplay and DX12 support

480 and 1060 are both excellent 1080p cards. 480 is somewhat cheaper (around here the difference between them is really small) while the 1060 is the better overall performer and more efficient card. AMD is better performing in DX12/Vulkan, but not many games yet for support + DX12 can still run worse then DX11 for games, and waiting on what might come is an overall bad strategy. So you can better look at what you play now.

But since the 1070 is also mentioned I think this is the best bet for you. Comes with higher cost, but you can run all easy + it has more headroom for future upgrades for screen.
