Gtx 780ti vs Gtx 970 vs Gtx 1060 3gb vs Rx 470 4gb

So i have had to bump my budget of $2000 down for the build i wanted to do (in my signature right now) to $1500 and that means i am getting a slightly worse gpu than the rx480 i wanted. Now i am looking into other options, i am also considering buying a used 970 or a used 780ti if they are still relevant for good fps 1080p gaming.

 

The cards i am considering are the ones in the title, the 780ti (specifically the asus dcu2 one) the 970 (gigabyte g1 gaming) the 1060 3gb (asus dual or similar in price) and the rx 470 (sapphire nitro or similar in price)

 

My budget is around $200 as you can see, this is so i can keep on budget (im actually slightly over at like $1600)

 

Anyway, i want to know which one is the best value for my money right now, i cannot spend any more on the gpu, do not recommend the 1060 6gb or rx 480, and dont recommend reference cards, i do like the build to stay cooler and more quiet.

Why are you changing the case?

the gtx 1060 or the rx 470 seem like the obvious choice here. You could get a few extra dollars by picking a smaller psu, something like 650w will do just fine.

Already own the 750 w. Got it on sale for $40 off retail $120, so i paid $78.99 total for it... Too good to pass up.

Im changing it cuz im giving the pc away to my brother who is autistic. I want that one to be his so i have 1 less thing to upg for him.

Tech yes city did a vid on that and the 780ti performs pretty well. Im only really going to be playing older games plus the occasional fps or demanding title

I can get a 470 fpr around $200, a 1060 3gb for $230, a 970 for $200 or a 780ti for around $170-$200

It can fit and work fine... I mean the only thing i really need to change is getting less ram, get 16gb instead of 32, but im going to be using the computer for cybersecurity classes, it will be used during college next year for engineering, it will be used for gaming as well as document keeping and maybe video editing and recording for youtube and twitch as a hobby. I could go for a 6700k, but i just feel like the xeon would perform better and i really do love that motherboard

And a 6 core would do the job just as well and be higher clocked. I don't understand the 8 core. Lord a 3770k would be fine.

Cut $240 off the total price (for the lg monitor, that will be an upgrade) and the price is $1600 exact, if i half the ram i can cut 90 off the price as well.

What 8 core? The 2670 v3 is a 12 core. Not to be confused with the 2670 v1 for 2011 non 3

 

Also there is no 6 core that can be fit into my budget. (unless i got a 1.6ghz one for the same price new and non es)

Oh you are trying THAT. Don't. Theres a reason that chip is so massivly underpriced. Thats a $200 paper weight waiting to happen.

Have you watched any of tech city's videos? He buys and makes used computers with em all the time dude and they work just fine.

And i doubt he's buying weird 12 cores from some dude in Japan. This is a bad idea. Go X79 if price really is important and you absolutely need more than 4 cores.

Do you really think i should spend $50 less on the mobo and $90 less on the ram and get a 6700k? Im not completely against the idea, i just feel like the xeon will be similar in games at 1080p and will help out with multitasking

Arent x79 boards like stupid expensive. I think they go for like $330 or something like that here. So i would be spending $100 less on the processor and $100 more on the mobo?

It will be worse by a good margin. You are looking at a much much much lower clock and that will hurt you. My chip maybe faster than that thing in single core. Also multitasking is easily done by pretty much every chip made in the last 6 years.

i cant buy like today or even in the next week. i have been saving for awhile and i only recently realized how expensive $2000 is. i am still saving even now! i have to save a grand total of around $1700 for the computer, and $200 of that is the replace the mobo in this one, get another, cheaper psu so i can keep my g2, and add 8gb more ram.

 

i did do some research on the processor and it looks like it turbos up to around 2.6-2.7ghz on all cores making that about in line with something like an i5 6400, but with 3x the cores and 6x the threads

 

again this is for 1080p gaming with recording happening and maybe streaming as well. i dont want to ever get into capture cards and having 2 pcs for this

also if i am seeming stubborn, its not that. i am only just making absolute sure about this before i decide to change my mind. $1500 is no joke for money for me, that is literally MY WHOLE LIFE SAVINGS right now.

 

i am also a really avid debator, i like to analyze the arguments at hand and present evidence on what i know, if there is something i am unaware of it is usually argued against me like this and i back up my claims with evidence and if it is still incorrect on my part like this could be, then i will change to something that is more suited for my budget

I vote for RX 470 it seems the most solid choice thanks to the 4GB of VRAM!
