Pressure Optimized Fans

Hello everyone, I am currently in need of some fans that are pressure focused. In my rig, I run fan filters on every intake. These restrict airflow and choke flow orientated fans. Therefor I am forced to use pressure optimized fans.

I know the Noctua NF-F12's are highly regarded. However, i've read some forums that say that they claim more pressure then they actually are.

I have tried the Corsair SP120 but they are way to loud for me.

Another fan I have tried are the Bitfenix Spectre Pro's. They run really quite and move a fair amount of air.

Despite this, I feel like there is a better fan out there, that will perform better than the spectre, but not create the jet turbine like noise of the SP120.

As long as they are around the 25dB mark, I will be satisfied.

Thanks

Currently using Swiftech Helixs on a controller and they're pretty quiet. Had the same experience with my GTs when I had them on my rig. APs are pretty quiet around lower voltages, but I've only had experience with the AP-181s so I don't know how it translates to the smaller sizes.

Swiftech Helix or Scythe Gentle Typhoons are the best.

Ill consider the Helix. However the typhoons arnt my cup of tea in looks :P

Air penetrators or Gelid Wings?

Eloops are good too.

I was considering some Gelid Silent Wing 12's. As for the Ap fans, Ive heard mixed reviews so im a little skeptical.

Seems like many suggest the Helix or Ap series of fans. Which do you suggest going with on a 120mm build?

I searched the Helix up, and when comparing  it to my SP120 High performance edition, it is only 2dB quieter and have 0.61mm/H20 less pressure than the sp120's.

In my experience and benchmarks with my H220, I can confirm that the Noctua NFF12s are best followed by the Swiftech Helix fans.

Is that so?

The nf-F12's go for around 25$ where I live, and the Helix are on sale for 10$ each at the moment. Do you suggest forking out the extra money or just go with the helix?

I own both and honestly I can say that although the Noctuas perform better, the performance increase over the Helix fans is not worth the premium. I would buy the Helix fans and call it a day (especially for $10). You also may get some pwm controllers, but just double check that

I'd take Silverstone Air Penetrators or Gentle Typhoons over the Helix because of its cheaper sleeve bearing.  If you want, you can look into getting the high-RPM variants of the Gentle Typhoon, which are all black, and then undervolt them to run at normal speeds.

Alright ill take note of your opinion on the Helix's. Here's the link:    http://ncix.ca/products/?sku=75483&vpn=HELIX-120-BW&manufacture=Swiftech&promoid=1294

If these are pwm fans, what controller do you suggest using? I will have a total of 4 fans in the case.

The typhoons are the same price as the F12's here. Not sure if I would go for them. I prefer the looks of the f12's over the typhoon. However, the silverstone ones do look nice. Still a bit skeptical on them due to mixed reviews.

In terms of recommending a fan controller, what color case do you have? I would suggest something cheap yet effective like

Im using the Bitfenix Prodigy-M in BLAQ.

One very vital thing for me, is that if I am going to be using a fan controller, is to turn the fans completly off if I dont need them. I willing to spend up to $75CAD for a good quality unit.

I have been testing the CFM and static pressure of commonly used 120mm fans. If you're interested in a cheaper alternative to nf f12 like performance look into the xigmatek xlf. They offer nearly the same cfm and max static pressure, but the noctua is better made and definitely channels air a lot better. Also, the noctua uses .6w while the xigmatek uses 2.4w. I would say the noise is similar, both make a light whine at 12v, Here's the data i collected NF F12 52.8CFM / 1.95mmH20 and XLF 54.3CFM / 1.93mmH20.  Wish i had data on the air penetrators(121/123) to make comparisons.

Corsair 250d - - Delidded i7 4770k @ 4.4GHz (1.15v) - - Asus Maximus VI Impact - - Corsair h100i

Asus DirectCU II OC GTX780 - - NZXT x41 & G10 w/ Push/Pull Noctua IndustrialPPC's - - Corsair ax760i

16GB Corsair Vengeance 2133Mhz  - - Samsung 840 pro (boot) - - Samsung Evo (gaming) - - WD green HDD (data)

@Epikas Idk how much this helps you as a reference point, but I previously had 2 corsair sp120 High performance on my h100i, they ran at like.. 2100 rpm I think or around there, noctua's at 1450~ make less noise, and are 1 degree celsius hotter under load, I LOVE my nf-f12's to death :9

As much as I adore the nf-f12's, they are very expensive here. Around 27$ each. Being a student, buying two fan(54$) just seems way to much. I was told that the stock fans on the swiftech h220 were pretty decent. Still dont really know

Yeah I mean any fan will be good, you shouldn't really worry to much, I'm sure the stock h220 ones are perfectly fine, and yeah noctua's are very expensive :/
