Hey guys!

Im getting ready to purchase myself an HD 7950, but which manufacture offers the best cooling? I want to overclock this card to match the HD 7970 stock performance while maintaining reasonable temps.

Thanks!

Just get the cheapest one with a double/triple fan cooler. They're all similar enough to not pay more for one over another.

Make sure that you get an open shroud cooler rather than a closed blower design. Other than that, its really up to you. The HIS IceQ closed blower design is pretty good if you dont have great case ventilation/

Sounds like a good idea, I just thought there would be an ideal cooler brand to go with for overclocking.

Get the His IceQ X2

I looked this up on Newegg and didnt find it except for a regular HIS IceQ Boost. However I did find it on amazon and it looks amazing. Very pricey though, about the same price as an HD 7970.

gigabyte cards are usually cheap. windforce coolers are decent, had 3 cards with them and no complaints.

also im pretty sure they still use refence pcb (mine does) if u decide to watercool down the track.

If ur hell bent on X, dont ask for X vs Y suggestions

MSI Twin Frozr 3/HIS IceQ X2/ Sapphire Dual-X/Vapor-X are great coolers for overclocking.

Sapphire and MSI are 7950 favorites.  Can't go wrong with either of them.  My recommendation would just be to make sure that whichever you get uses a reference PCB.  Just in case you want to watercool in the future.

Windforce coolers are great, problem is, after the first couple of months, Gigabyte voltage locked 99% of their cards, and made the default voltage 1.256 instead of 1.093, giving higher temps all round. <- tis bad

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
