Budget Case and Power Supply

markchui

Hi, all. I have decided on a build but am now trying to pick out a case out of these:

- Corsair Spec 01

- Corsair 100Rcmp

- Fractal Design Core 1500

- Tecware F3 (white)

- Silverstone SP-08

- Cooler Master K282

- Cooler Master Silencio 352

- Cooler Master 311

- Cooler Master 344

- Cooler Master 361

- Cooler Master N200 (with Window)

The case will house the following:

- CPU: i5-6500

- M/B: Gigabyte GA-H170M-D3H (chose this over the B150 due to SRT since I have an SSD, more external and internal I/O; over the Asus one for slightly better audio (892 vs 887), don't need a USB C... the list goes on)

- RAM: 1 x 8GB Kingston DDR4 RAM 2133 MHZ CL15 (KVR21N15D8/8; I can spend more later on to top up on memory)

- SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB (not M2, in case I decide to replace this SSD and use it as an external hard drive - SATA based enclosures are more common)

- PSU: Seasonic M12II Modular 520W 80+ Bronze

- Optical drive (just in case I need to boot from a disk): Asus DVD-RW 24x

- Skipping on graphics now (a friend has a spare Radeon HD5770)

Can't really decide because they are so similar in terms of their ergonomics. Anyone has experience with any of these?

Also, is the PSU good enough to power these parts?

The PSU is excellent. I would personally go with something from Phanteks, or the Zalman R1 maybe. If you are in the Uk, I reccomend the GameMax Falcon, it's cheap and looks really tidy. It's called the Nox hummer or something in the states.

Main Gaming Rig:

Spoiler

Core i7-4770, Cryorig M9i Cooler, ASUS B85M GAMER, 8GB HyperX Fury Red 2x4GB 1866MHz, KFA2 GTX 970 Infin8 Black Edition "4GB", 1TB Seagate SSHD, 256GB Crucial m4 SSD, 60GB Corsair SSD for Kerbal and game servers, Thermaltake Core V21 Case, EVGA SuperNOVA 650W G2.

Secondary PC:

Spoiler

i5-2500k OCed, Raijintek Themis, Intel Z77GA-70K, 8GB HyperX Genesis in grey, GTX 750 Ti, Gamemax Falcon case.

Ooh, the Zalman looks really pretty. Wonder what cable management is like...

thank you you for the recommendations. Sadly, these are the offerings from the brick-and-mortar shop I'm heading to for the rest of the hardware. They do carry Phanteks cases but the prices are inflated quite a bit. I forgot to mention that I'm in Singapore.

Linus has a review on the R1. It's a really great budget case.

the locals all recommend the tecware f3 on a budget. if you want you can get the tecware alpha/deepcool dukase for a few more bucks. get tecware F3 at lazada, $39 compared to $49 at SLS.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Sadly, the reputable shops I know do not carry Zalmans...

I see... I'll take a closer look at the cases when I drop by the shops this weekend. Thanks for your input. I must note that @antisleep recommended the CM Silencio 352 (and ranked the N200 second, Corsair 100R and Fractal Node 1500 3rd, and Tecware 4th on my previous post) as top choice. Am waiting for his reasons for the picks.

In Trump's words: it's HUUUUUUUGE... (no, really. It's biggish and may be a bit too much for me. Great case, 'though)

Watched the review, and i agree that it's pretty concise. I share the opinion of some commenters and will give it a pass even if the local stores sell them. Still leaning toward the CM N200 but if the Tecware F3 and CM Silencio 352 meets my needs when I evaluate them in person, I might just get either.

(1) The R1 has little room for cable management despite having a bulge, like the Silencio

(2) Flimsy build (note feedback about front panel, HDD mount and cable management panel. CM N200 has pretty good reviews (based on other forum feedback), including ones from YouTubers JayzTwoCents and Paul's Hardware)

(3) I can get the N200 for cheaper (about 49 USD in the shops vs the R1's price of about 55 USD minus shipping on Amazon)

Well, what do you know? I may already have a bias for the N200. :P
