CPU quandry

tezza192

Im currently using an Athlon X4 860K with a GTX 980

My rig does chug a bit and i know on certain games the CPU is definitely holding back my GPU. I want to upgrade my CPU and in my local PC shop i was looking at skylake, but he had a few I5 4460s left on special and a Z97 gigabyte board which cost alot less than getting skylake and i wont have to buy memory.

Is that CPU decent for gaming? Its last gen I know but really the skylake package was over £100 more and like i said can reuse my DDR3 sticks.

I would wait until Zen. If you do want to upgrade I'd recommend a Xeon 1231 v3 and any good H-board with socket 1150

Yeah and that choice is just as daft, that CPU is just as expensive as the skylake consumer stuff here,
