get a 6600K if you are going to get that cooler and motherboard otherwise swap atleast the motherboard and DONT GET A V300, they are poop

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Don't buy an OEM version of windows if you're going to buy windows

Why that case? there are other probably cheaper micro ATX cube cases

The RX 470 is going to be a better buy overall given future vulkan/DX12 performance in addition to saving money with free-sync, I don't anyone should be buying the 3GB 1060, 6gb one would be minimum, but then you get the things above still

Overall that build looks nice however if you could spend just a little extra, upgrade to the 6GB version of the 1060. The 3GB version not only has half the RAM, but more importantly, the shader count is dropped from 1280 to 1152. Performance will be noticeably worse, even at 1080p than the 6GB model due to the drop in shaders. This card should have been called a 1050.

The board in my build includes USB 3.1 in addition to solid power delivery you don't need much more, it has 6 USB ports in total on the back

If you want a higher end CPU go for the i7 6700 over the i5 6600K

Gimme a second on the case...and ya guess if you're stuck with nvidia, go for the 6gb 1060 for sure

That board has USB 3.1, which is faster than USB 3.0

this ITX board only has USB 3.0, but has a 3.0 front header

Also you want something for your desk you should go ITX, the case here is still big enough to support everything, although you could always sell the shield lol, didn't bother changing to the 6gb 1060

skylake chips don't use much power, especially the non K chips, budget boards can handle them just fine, though MSI has the best budget boards currently

Why not leave the 1070 in there. Fits in the budget. It should but it's budget for like i3 and 1050/470 not i5 and 1070.

Yes, but the money saved from I5 can allow a nicer board so why not.

USB C is just the connection type, the board you had only supports USB 3.0 through USB C
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132573

You're going to want to look for a board that hard USB 3.1 Type C for faster speeds, although there's going to be hubs and adapters for USB 3.1 Type A to Type C

but really for what you need I'd just go ITX and find an ITX Board with USB 3.1

excepts that's totally not worth losing 4 CPU threads, when you could just drop the GPU down a peg, also I think he needs to fit in windows

Well i5's do get maxed out in quite a few games which could lead to a potential bottleneck.

that'd be down to clock speed most likely, although any intel quad core at 3ghz+ is going to be enough for 60fps in 99% of games, even the i3 6100 is fine for most games

he also probably isn't gaming at anything higher than 1080p, so the 1070 is kind of wasted

I wouldn't say so. He will be able to max out games with ease for the most part. With the 1060 he will be just on the edge of under 60 fps. If not under in some demanding newer titles.
