So basicly, what is your oppinion on people searching for help with tech related stuff? PC Components and other electronics...

Why I'm asking? Well because lately I've noticed alot of people asking for help in public gaming groups and the like for help with their pc problems, or help to buy new.

So what do you think about this approach, good? bad? and why?

I can personally say that everytime I feel like helping those poor guys, I redirect them to here or other tech forums, (mostly here though :P )

So your question is what people think when others looking for tech advice look through gaming groups for help? Most of the time it occurs because they have joined these gaming groups to play that specific game, so they want to know other peoples opinions in that group to see how they can most effectively play that game. Tech forums can be very intimidating if you are not technologically savvy so posting in gaming groups offer a much more relaxed approach to tech related questions I suppose.

I dont think facebook is a good medium to seek out a direction on tech support, forums like this or Sub reddits would do alot better.

I agree with Notreble people that are getting into a certain game wants to improve there experience of may seek out other people that play that game as there will be a more educated and relate atmosphere to it,

improvements may be settings or mods which could be over looked if a person consulted a pure tech group

Its all about those volumetric clouds

Good point!... Well I've just been following this group of about 8000 members... And every other minute someone posts some whack, and a ton of people reply with "do this" or "buy that". I kinda pains me to see people advicing others to buy a z87 mobo with a 4960x on it ._.

i think its stupid becus you dont realy know what someone is and there is a big chance that you have 4 year olds replieing and telling you to get an i3 becaus its way better than your i7

If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough it will be believed.

Wait a place where tech people congregate that know who you are or can see your face is no good? So much for tech conferences and users groups then

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

Don't think facebook is a good way to get fast answers because there are too many sometimes. The best and fast way in solving things imo is by getting help from the forum by creating an account.

People asking for help is great.  Sometimes the people giving advice shouldn't be but that's a different story.  Wanting help and wanting to help aren't inherently bad things.

"intimidating" is a great reason why people might not head towards a forum like this. see the dealing with non techies thread ;)

looking at Facebook and other sites like that is really just asking mates for recommending parts or brands they like or had good experiences with.
