Core I5 VS i7 Recording

I am building a computer but I can't decide which processor to get I know the Core I7 is obviously better but can someone test the Core I5 6600k @ 4.4ghz with obs 1080p 60fps on a game like Rocket League in a 4v4 game for stress or something else like that.

Thank You,

It wont make much of a difference if you use nvidia shadow play for recording  only a few frames here and there

But it will make difference while encoding and rendering videos

what @don_svetlio says.

Buying a GTX 9XX is a waste of money after the release of the 1060, which is better than a similair priced GTX 9XX model.

in terms of i5/i7 for recording, it comes down to this:

- if you use intel quicksync (please dont...) it doesnt matter

- if you use nvidia nvenc, it doesnt matter (in fact, it doent impact gpu performance much at all, it's pretty impressive)

- if you use x264 cpu encoding, it's simple: all cpu performance the game doesnt use *can* be used by OBS, which is honestly a pretty big difference between i5 and i7.

i dont have experience with amd's gpu encoding thing for OBS, mostly because using an HD5770 to test that against a GTX970 would be rather unfair :P

I don't think the HD 5770 has the proper VCE anyway, AMD introduced that alongside the GCN architecture in the HD 7000 series. Just like Nvidia introduced NVENC with the GTX 600 series.

From my limited experience, AMD's VCE works fine. Not really a noticeable performance impact.

The AMD software for it has been pretty meh though. But you can just use OBS.

I record on an i3 :) Makes a big difference to limit your FPS to your refresh rate so you'll end up with a bunch of extra CPU power, only reason I can record GTA V while playing at high settings.

well, it would again make a big difference to record on an i5, and again on an i7 :P

I see no point in going past 1080p60fps :P

Hell, Most youtubers record 720p60FPS which is what I'll end up doing for 90% of the games like Pokemon and stuff

its not about resolution or fps, its about how that resolution and fps looks.
