Yes, the Dell U2312HM, U2412M, and the brand new P series that was just released (22, 23, 24inch) models (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/sna.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~topic=snp_professional_monitor_offers), has fully adjustable stand including portrait and landscape mode.

If you look at the U2312HM, wait until you can find the P2314H or the P2414H (both 1080p) in the uk, if not out already.

The monitor is actually better than the U2312HM in every single way. It looks like that the U2312HM will be discontinued.

Here is what has been improved:

-> No PWM back light control (this is very good. You don't want PWM.. ASUS has PWM to control the back light brightness)

-> A bit faster real life response time

-> Different LG eIPS panel, that isn't plagued with manufacture errors (the U2312HM, was the early eIPS panels, which might explain why it had a lot of manufacture issues).

-> Reduce back light bleeding to very low levels

-> Super fast internal circuit, providing an impressive <2ms input lag. This beats nearly all TN panel, including gaming ones.

I guess the only "downside", is that it still uses USB 2.0 hub, which is a shame really. A new monitor, might as well put USB 3.0. Oh well.

Maybe they want to keep USB 3.0 feature exclusive, for now at least, for the UltraSharp series, and select S series monitors.

Hi,

I'm looking for a reasonably good ips monitor for photo editing, I have been looking at Asus and Dell. They both seem really good but I cant decided which one to go for or even if they are the best for my price range which is £2-300.

Thanks

I found this http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0084FNAB4/?tag=pcp0f-21

Very nice monitor, and it's on sale. Just gotta stretch your budget a bit, but it'll be worth it.

I don't know why it's so expensive there, but it's only 350 CAD here

350 CAD = 210 GBP = 250 EUR

UltraSharps are great, so are the ASUS equivalent as well though. I love my U2410's but they may be a bit out of your price range. I'd get U2412M's if I was you.

A monitor that beats or compares to the gorgeous, seizure making (from its awesomeness), U2410, is hard these days at the consumer level. They don't make it like this anymore.

Glorious Dell U2410 master race! W00t! :)

Well help us put, because both camp have great monitors as you saw.

What makes you undecided between which one you want?

Dell web site has their products more expensive than what you can find at some fine retailers in the U.K. Did you have a look at Scans? (http://www.scan.co.uk)

They both have good reviews, the Dell is cheaper but I like the design of the Asus better. Also not sure if the Dell has both portrait and landscape.

I would recommend going for a 1200p monitor- trust me you'll find 16:10 ideal for photo editing. U2412M has better color coverage than U2312M - tested it myself using Datacolor Spyder 4 Pro color calibration device. And if you can save a bit more money do try to get yourself a U2410 such a great panel...If not- the price difference between 23 and 24 inch Dell model (2312 and 2412) isn't that bad and the U2412M is a best buy all arounder that simply won't die it remains a good choice for years now.
