GPU for editing?

I'm building my dad an editing PC. He's going to edit photos and video for his work at 1080p and maybe 4k. I was planning on getting him a 750 Ti because he won't do any gaming and I know you don't NEED a really good GPU for editing but should I get a better GPU?

for 4K video output you will need more than a 750Ti

I edit and game on a Radeon HD6950 at 1080 which is almost equivalent to the 750Ti so I'd say go for that if only editing 1080p

And how big are the files for video editing? Or will he only use Photoshop?

He'll need a 1070 for 4K video output. The rest should be for an i7 6700k or something with more cores.

People usually use Premier or After Effects for editing and not Photoshop.

I know. If he's not doing much video editing and mostly photo editing, he won't need much more than a 1060 if video is seldomly edited.

He uses Premiere and Photoshop. Not sure what you mean by "what kind" of video. He's going to be doing Public Relations videos for the Army

That info helps. A 750 Ti should be fine--just make sure to edit off of a fast disk like a ssd.

You'll be fine with your original choice for Premiere and Photoshop.

Oh yeah, hooking him up with an Intel 600p Series 512 GB M.2 SSD. Should be very fast lol. And I agree, I think that the 750 Ti should be good enough. If he does need a little upgrade I'll probably end up sending him my GTX 950 and I'll get a new graphics card.

Actually, I think I might go with an r7 370. Seems to outperform the 750 Ti at a much lower price

If oyu're going to use a R7 370, you may want to consider a RX 460.

Yeah, they're very close. I think I will go for the 370 though because it is a bit cheaper and it does a little better than the 460, at least in this benchmark.
