Proper way to clean mousepad?

Anyone know the proper way of cleaning a mouse pad without damaging it? I have a HyperX Fury Pro Mousepad, Has lots of white marks from things scratching on it

Get a pail/bucket, fill it with water, add a little detergent, and just hand wash it

put it in the sink, put detergent on it and rub it with a sponge until clean, rinse with water, let it dry. done
