I have an old MacBook Core 2 Duo released in early 2008 (or "MacBook 4, 1 for some people). What can I do with it today, and how can I do it? I know I can upgrade my hard drive to an SSD, upgrade my RAM up to DDR2 6GB, and install OS X Lion and Windows 10 at the maximum. But I was wondering if you can game at all on it? I'm not a serious gamer at all, simple games like Minecraft up to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the most I will be doing.

Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 (2.1GHZ)

4GB DDR2 RAM

240GB SSD

Intel GMA X3100

OS X Lion / Windows 10

I'd hang myself before using that, lol.

Explanation:

  • Slow GHz for games that are CPU intensive or single core intensive
  • DDR2 is old, people are going for DDR4 now-a-days
  • You may want to get a low-end GPU

Low end gpu for NOTEBOOK ?! Nope. Those external cases for GPUs to work with cost more than his macbook....

Connection200mbps / 12mbps 5Ghz wifi

The best way to upgrade this laptop is to sell it and buy a better one. You're beating a dead horse. Getting an SSD will speed it up a bit but bear in mind, it uses SATA 2 (3Gbps) so yea... Core 2 Duo? Gaming? Nah... I had one of those- found it in a dump and fixed it. Only game that run on it perfectly fine was Diablo 2.

I fixed a Hp laptop that had a core2duo and 4 gigs of ram, replaced it w/ and ssd, aaaand. Nope, even 1080 video struggles, and an external gpu on that ? Nope man, you should sell that and get something else. You sell it for quite some money, as macbooks don't sell for cheap, at least in my country.
