@dexxterlab97 @Aytex So, yes this is a gaming computer that may or may not be used for programming, and light work in cad programs and game engines, so i should go with a 6700k cpu as opposed to a x99 you, a larger radiator for my cpu cooler, get another ssd, and a monitor with 144hz+ refresh rate? Anything else? I just want to make sure the graphics card will be good as well.

Try do a 1080 SLI if monitor is not in your budget. YEs 6700k is way to go. 144hz with g sync will be beastly

I'm going to be building a computer for my science fair project this year in school, and it's about how to make a  gaming computer as powerful as i can with a $2700-3000 budget, focusing solely on the computer itself, and a monitor, key board, and mouse. I would like some tips for building a powerful computer, because i'm not entirely sure my build is that powerful. By powerful i mean it has fast load times, can do 1080p no problemo, etc. I also want it to look cool, but that's second priority. Here's the link for my build. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/xY8nLD

Maybe a TIER 1 PSU instead? Looks good. Have you considered x99 instead? 32GB maybe since 16 is mainstream?

Since your a noob ill explain why I want you to go with it,

It has a larger radiator which dissapates heat better, so the price isn't that higher so I say go for it, with better cooling preformance

Now for just a gaming build I wouldn't go towards the x99 chipset. Preformance/price isn't worth it much compared to the 6700k in gaming

x99 is a motherboard. uses 2011-3 socket. not the best for gaming but powerful for video editing/rendering

but stick with 6700k if gaming only

@dexxterlab97 1080 sli is two 1080 graphics cards right? what does that have to do with if my monitor fits in the budget? and what is g sync?

1080 SLI means 2 graphics card. It will have a significant increase in game performance. Because adding another card to your build might go over $3000 if monitor is included. A monitor with G-Sync makes the game looks smooth
