Building for Business

Exprima

Hi, guys. I'm a manager at a Verizon Wireless premium retailer and I somehow convinced the owner to let me build our new PCs instead of buying them pre-built. He gave me a $2200 budget for 3 towers, 3 monitors, 3 mice, and 3 keyboards. We already have Windows 10 and MS Office licences handy. These PCs will mostly be used for PoS (RQ4), operations, and typical web browsing, some Netflix, and even some gaming when the store's a bit slow (shh).

Here's what I came up with. Whatchu guys think?

Great start, have you considered an RX 460? It is more powerful has the same wattage and also doesn't require the 6-pin power connector like the 950.

Before anyone saying "AH PSU", one, 430w is more than enough, 2 the only really bad thing about the PSU is the fan.

Anyways, are you able to get bigger monitors? Such as http://pcpartpicker.com/product/xtJkcf/lg-monitor-23mp47hq

That's it really, great build for what it has to do.

i7-6700k  Cooling: Deepcool Captain 240EX White GPU: GTX 1080Ti EVGA FTW3 Mobo: AsRock Z170 Extreme4 Case: Phanteks P400s TG Special Black/White PSU: EVGA 850w GQ Ram: 64GB (3200Mhz 16x4 Corsair Vengeance RGB) Storage 1x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 240GBSandisk SSDPlus, 480GB OCZ Trion 150, 1TB Crucial NVMe

I would like a bigger screen but we're kinda limited on desk space as is. The speakers probably won't even make it because of he limited desk space. Also this build pulls like 200w from the wall I don't think I'll have any issues even with a good 300w Seasonic PSU. :P

Was just saying because most people here don't see a notable name and instantly suggest other phones <3

Anyways, yeah desk space can be a problem lol

Yeah I totally understand. Also the RX460 is probably out of budget lol. Was originally gonna get a 750 TI but the 950 is the same price after rebate.

Get everything from one place, so its easier to track where your parts are. Buying here and there just for the lower price don't really save much, when you also have to add in tax and shipping. Do you have a retail store, on where you can get your parts, buy it from them. This will be a better option, if here is a faulty component where you need to do a quick change.

IMO pre-built is the better choice from a business point of view. Something goes wrong, you won't have time to troubleshoot.

And your build total is wrong. Monitor price is missing.

Here is a build, all parts from one e-tailer

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($125.98 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus B150M-A Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($81.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($38.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 460 2GB Video Card  ($119.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair Carbide Series 88R MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($35.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($36.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NSC0B DVD/CD Writer  ($13.99 @ Newegg)
Monitor: Asus VP228H 21.5" 60Hz Monitor  ($111.98 @ Newegg)
Keyboard: Logitech MK120 Wired Slim Keyboard w/Optical Mouse  ($17.94 @ Newegg)
Total: $658.80
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-09-08 12:11 EDT-0400

Base Total: $685.86
Promo Discounts: -$10.00
Mail-in Rebates: -$30.00
Shipping: $12.94
Total:

$658.80

Grand total without rebates comes out to $688.80

$688.80 x 3 = $2,066.40 out of your boss's $2,200.00 budget.

Monitor has built in speakers, B150 supports PCIe 3.0 and that board has USB type C.

All parts are from a single e-tailer. Not sure if you guys are tax exempt when you buy stuffs.

Really prebuilts are the way to go. They will have beter warranties, and support especially if you buy actual workstations, and you will also have to account for paying someone, even it is it yourself to build them. If you are really concerned about gaming when you work you really shouldn't take it out the company budget.

Also prebuilts include a keyboard and mouse.

Go for something like this.

https://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=9SIAA0S3Y41449

Usually they have vesa mounts to attach to the back of a monitor, and has built in wifi.

Do you really need 4Tb of storage? An ssd will increase productivity.

 •E5-2670 @2.7GHz • Intel DX79SI • EVGA 970 SSC• GSkill Sniper 8Gb ddr3 • Corsair Spec 02 • Corsair RM750 • HyperX 120Gb SSD • Hitachi 2Tb HDD •

Gaming's just a little bonus and probably won't happen much at all. It was within the budget so I figured I'd give it a shot lol. 4tb is needed because we back customers' phones up in our PCs. Don't need wifi as these will all be hooked up via ethernet.

Better to get a NAS for backup, instead of having individual 4TBs.
