Sennheiser Foam Mod

Has there ever been a frequency response graph comparison done for the Sennheiser HD 558 foam mod or no foam mod? I really want to see this. Unless it's actually impossible.

Yeah, somewhere. Basically turns it into a 598; no radical changes. Just a lowering in the upper-mids by a few dB.

Do you recommend the foam mod? Some say it's good. Some say it makes no difference. People say the soundstage is more open. The bass isn't as tight. etc

I'm a firm believer in that it did almost nothing for my 558s.

It's subjective. Whatever changes there are will be slight.

Just try and see.....eh, no, hear for yourself. I had a HD555, did the foam mod which turned my HD555 to effectively a HD595 (it is such a simple mod that even a noob like me did it quite easily). It IS reversible if you don't like what you hear, but honestly speaking, I couldn't hear a difference between a stock and foam modded HD555. Perhaps if I'd had two pairs of HD555's, I could have A/B'ed them and hear the difference but I'm not one of those special peep who can remember a sound before the mod and compare it to the sound after the mod.
