This topic ALWAYS leads to $300 - $400(Canadian) graphic cards. Can only assume anything less in the new department isnt worth it.

But EVERYONE is always stuck on new cards, never mentioning cheaper USED alternatives.

It all depends on your budget and what cpu you have. No reason to put, say a 1060 in a pc running a AMD Phenom quad core. it would bottleneck to much. I am all for talking about older cards, even used cards. It all just depends on the circumstances.

I agree. Sometimes, buying used is the solution

The rx 470 Or 480 4gb are the best price to performance cards out right now or were a month ago. (haven't checked comparisons to the 1060 3gb, but hardware unboxed has a good video about it.

That being said, I think with that budget you'd be better off getting a 1070, or 1080 from jet.com and get some discounts.  You can get a 1070 for less than $400. (or 1060 3gb for less than $200, 1080 for less than $650, 480 for ~$200, and so on.)
