I was wondering if there is any elegant PCIe router solution. Instead of pulling internet from socket to router and then sending it off to your devices you can pull it to your master device and then redistribute it away.

Reduces cable clutter and maintanance problems since you can just hook it up to your main workstation.

Problem could be power-on for the router to work.

Has anyone seen a solution like this? I mean always-on requirement sounds a bit obscene, but maybe it can provide better throughtput for when your workstation is on?

You certainly can use your computer to 'share' internet.  If your computer runs Linux, then you need to configure IPtables.  If your computer runs Windows, its called "internet connection sharing".  The newer versions of Windows even support turning your Windows computer into a wireless access point if you have a supported wireless card.  Linux supports using a wireless network card as an access point through the hostapd  program.
