Im building a new system for my son, so far i have the below

Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z170 gaming 7

CPU (possibly I5 6600 unless something cheaper could be used as im working off reviews so far)

Inwin 805 case

32GB ram (brand to be decided)

M.2 HDD (brand still TBD)

Silverstone 850 Modular PSU (I believe this should be sufficient)

currently we have 2 HDMI 1080 monitors and wont be going higher with quality as yet so gaming on any card with specs supporting higher than this will be wasted.

as i am wanting the case to look nice and have a mainly white coloured build, im looking for a GPU that would look nice and not kill my funds, and would support 1080p gaming (games being played will be watchdogs 2 etc)

Any suggestions please would be totally helpful, also would the I5 6600 be overkill for what is being used? could this be scaled down to something else and the extra $ put into a slightly better GPU?

The 6600k is great for gaming, ram is a little bit more than probably what he'll need 16 gb is usually enough, and easily able to add on later. PSU is enough, maybe a little more than needed, maybe a 750, 650 would give you more wiggle room with costs.

Two monitors I'm kinda of unsure about I know that the 1070 crushes 1080 but I feel it's a little over kill.

Ive heard the RX 480 4gb does a great job at 1080 and from what I've read it can play 2 monitors just fine

working of a budget of roughly $1200 (Australian)

costing so far is

Inwin 805 $185

Gigabyte GA-Z170 gaming 7 $298

I5 6600 $306

m.2 + SSD HDD $100-200

i already have G.Skill Ripjaws 4 F4-2400C15Q-32GRB 32GB DDR4 Ram and the powersupply so that wont factor into this

ideally $200-300 i guess for the GPU unless i can get a cheaper CPU and use those funds.

Id suggest a gtx 1070/1060/rx 480 depending on the games and at what setting you wanat to play at.

Id get a i5 6500

Id get a cheaper board like a GA-B150M-DS3H

the I5 6500 would save me about $30, would it be worth the saving?

I feel like your spending way to much on a mobo, the CPU is perfect I've even heard of a 4.5 ghz overclock on it so it's a good cpu. Look into a rx480 mostly cause of memory. The 4gb is pretty cheep and its just a little more than the 1060 3gb but your getting more memory.

It just seems that your spending a bit to much on the mobo

By the motherboard was more because it was aesthetically pleasing, would you have an alternative board that looks just as good in mind???

Alright and any sort of special features maybe? Like sound, sli or crossfire support etc

This is for a kid so sound quality won't be noticeable for him. Future proofing the mobo would be good, ideally I want to have a nice looking setup that is functional for 1080 gaming

i get what your getting at, I found this it's kind of a gold, and it says it has some led lighting that blinks to audio not sure how good it works, but saving a little bit here and there would probably help twords a GPU nothing wrong with the initial board you picked out its just a little costly

also saw the same board has a gaming 6 board in red that's cheaper but pretty decent features aswell

yeah i did have a look at that but for $50 the reviews i have looked through indicate the Gaming G7 was a little more future proof, now you have me questioning it

i don't wanna talk you into anything, just giving some options. id spend the extra 50 if your more comfortable with it. The 6500 I think can be overclocked maybe but don't hold me to it, is a decent cpu. Save you 30 and the 1060 3gb or the rx480 4gb, either one would serve as a fairly good card

Only downer is it only supports ddr4 2133 ram could be a set back on the ones you have unless they fit. Also it supports only 2 way crossfire, so if you go with Nividia you can't do Sli 2 way connection down the road. But the 1060 dosnt offer sli anyways.

But the rx480 does and if you wanted to add another rx480 down the road the mobo supports it
