Quad-Core Pentiums for Gaming?

Guest

Does anyone on here know of anyone on the forum that has used quad-core Pentium processors for some serious gaming (maybe not recording gameplay or streaming, but just good 1080p60fps gameplay)?  I understand they have non-upgradable BGA-sockets, but HAS ANYONE DONE IT?  All I've seen on YouTube are cruddy videos at 720p or choppy videos at 1080p for GTA V for dual-core pentiums.

Pentiums only come in dual core. For quad core you need an i5 or an i3 for 2 cores 2 threads.

The bga baytrail and simmilar are quads.

Check out the N-Pentiums. They're low power ultra budget laptop CPUs that come in dual and quad core varities.

@VPrime the reason you don't see gaming on them is because they're paired with no GPU and are very weak.

Since i3s have Hyper-Threading Tech., they have 2 cores and 4 threads.

If you want a budget CPU for gaming, get an i3 - 6100. Better than any i5 and some i7 mobile proccessors. (mobile as in laptop)

I have an i5 6400, its a dream. If you really want something cheap you can get the unlocked haswell pentium and OC it but a Skylake pentium with a decent gpu will play most games smoothly.

In short, no. You can not get a quad core pentium for gaming. The IPC is terrible and the clock speeds are low. If you want something cheap go for an AMD processor (you can get a quad core for cheap) or a skylake i5 or i3. Its worth the investment, or else youll regret buying the pentium.
