1060 or rx 470???

The GTX 1060 if IT IS the 6GB version,if its the 3gb one then just get the RX 470

well, the gtx 1060 is more expensive, but also a better GPU (I'm talking of the 250usd, 6gb version).
buy that if you have the money for it, you can find 250usd models on newegg.

both of them are great cards and whichever one you choose won't make a huge difference maybe like 5 fps or something

Gtx 1060 is way better but is more expensive!! You should still get with 6gb Model!!

I've been pretty happy with my 1060 6GB. :-) Worked out great for a small ITX build (which was super fun since I haven't done one in years). Performance per watt is where I was putting my focus. Didn't want to dump an extra few watts of heat into my office.

 

Unless you can't spot the extra $20 for a 480 4GB or the power requirements are a bit too high, 470 wouldn't be a bad buy either. I don't think the gimped 3GB 1060 is worth a buy, though. I'd put the $200 for a 480 with 4GB available down. That extra 1GB from the 480 or the 470 is worth it if you are looking to keep it for a while.

I think that is up for debate, between mantle and the newer DX12 and Vulkan API's Radeon's are seeming to show a rapidly growing potential.   The AMD Drivers have massive overhead in DX11, but Vulkan and DX12 both give direct access to the GPU.  I think the RX 470 is the best value on the market right now, expecially if you can find one on the lower end of the price scale.  I think the RX 470 is going to start showing more and more gains over the 3GB variant of the 1060 in the very near future.

Personally like the 480/70 series. The 70 offering the best value. Those Dx12 and Vulkan numbers are probably just preview of whats to come for future titles.

Get the PowerColor 470 Red Devil, cool looking card, performing out of the box as 480 and good headroom for oc.

I would second that, I don't believe you would even essentially need to get the 8gb model, and this card has been beating RX 480's and GTX 1060 (3gb) with very mild over clocks.

If you plan to stick with your GPU for 2-3 years, get the RX480. I know that i will be bombarded by nVidia fans now, but AMD cards tend to perform better as time moves on and nVidia doesn't really care about optimizing old platform for so long. If you want better card now, GTX 1060 is no brainer. Also, don't get reference AMD cooler, buy AIB partner card, you will do yourself a favour since AMD reference coolers are complete noisy garbage that should not exist.

I vote for RX 470 if it is against the 3GB 1060 but if it is RX 8GB vs 6GB 1060 then I vote 1060!

I got the RX480 and I highly recommend spending the extra 40 bucks to get the double ram. It runs as smooth as butter. Yea you loose PhysX but hot damn everything looks amazing
