CHOICES!!!!!

socks&sandals

hi guys im planning on building a new pc and im confused (with what to get)

This is what i started thinking about

I5 6600K,GTX 1060,MSI Z170A SLI,1TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA,600W CX CORASIR,PHANTEKS ENTHOO M,THERMALTAKE 3.0 PERFORMER

I dont have a clue what to pick anymore as I wanted an nvidia 1060 but hen found out it doesnt support sli which is key for me as I plan just to add to my build and not keep changing (I thought about the RX 480 but crossfire isnt as good as sli as i got told by some other people on ltt.com)

also choosing a 1070 make me go quite out of my budget which is 750 pounds ( around $1000)

then i tried looking for a cheaper cpu but I dont really understand the current cpu performances (i decided to choose intel for this one because i had amd for the last one which was ok and ive never had an intel before) and the best current amd cpu i could find is the fx-8370 which is terrible when i compared it on cpuboss.com to the 6600k

it would be great if anyone could help me out

(ssd doesnt need to be included as i have one from my old pc)

could you reccomend an intel cpu which is cheaper but still kicks ass and would serve me well for a couple of years?

Get something like an i5-6400 or i5-6500 with a B150 motherboard, you'll save a bit of money and you'll be able to add a solid state drive (SSD) in order to get a much, much more responsive computer.

Also, AMD Crossfire works pretty well on supported games (especially DX12 with multi-GPU, but do some research on your favorite games' Crossfire performance), so you could go for an RX 480 instead of the 1060 if you plan on adding a GPU instead of upgrading it. The 1060 offers a bit better DX11 performance (aka current games) though.

My current build :

Hurricane Mk.I

  • CPU - Intel Core i5-4690K @ 4.6 GHz ~ 1.25V
  • Cooling - Corsair H60 2013 Edition
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte Z97MX-Gaming 5 (mATX)
  • RAM - 16 GB DDR3-1600 Avexir Core Series (Red LEDs)
  • GPU - XFX Radeon R9 Fury X @ 1100/500 MHz -24 mV
  • Case - CoolerMaster MasterCase Pro 3
  • SSD - 256 GB ADATA SX900
  • HDD - 1 TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM
  • PSU - Corsair RM750 (750W 80+ Gold)
  • Display - LG 34UM67-P Ultrawide (Freesync)
  • Keyboard - CM Storm Quickfire TK (Cherry MX Red) + CM Masterkeys Pro S RGB (Cherry MX Blue)
  • Mouse - Razer DeathAdder 2013
  • Audio - Sennheiser HD598 SE with detachable mic
  • OS - Windows 10 Home Edition
  • VR - Lenovo Explorer Windows Mixed Reality Headset
  • Laptop - ASUS K501LX with i7-5500U and GTX 950M
