Hey all !

So, I've been saving my money for quite some time now (I've had a lot of work for the past two years), but now that I have some more free time, I've decided to build mysef a new computer.

This will be my first watercooled build, so I hope I won't kill everything but exept for that, I hope you guys will enjoy this build log.

Parts :

core i7 6700K : I went Z170 instead of X99 because I feel like I will benefit more from higher clock than higher number of cores

ROG MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA : I just love the look of it, and since I'm watercooling, the included waterblock is a nice addition

Corsair dominator platinum :  32GB of it, I'm planning on using Chrome as my main internet browser

2x GTX 1080 : With my budget, I think this makes the most sense

Corsair AX1200i : It's overkill, but that's kind of the point of my whole system

Samsung 950 pro 256GB : I plan on instaling windows and my most used softwares on here

Samsung 850 pro 1TB : I'll store games on it, it might seems a lot, but I already have 500GB of games on my actual computer, and all aren't downloaded

WD Black 2TB : To store pictures, movies... stuff I don't mind slower access to, I will eventualy add an other one in RAID1.

Fractal Design Define S : This is the only case of reasonable size that could fit all my crazy stuff inside

Watercooling :

Everything comes from EK

Supremacy EVO (Acetal+Nickel)

2x GTX 1080 Block (Acetal+Nickel) + Backplates (Black)

2x Slim 360 rad

D5 Pumpres combo

3/8 ID 5/8 OD Fitings + soft tubing (I don't feel comfortable enough with watercooling to go for Hardline tubing yet)

Everything has arived, so i'll star building probably this weekend.

Here are some pictures :

I plan on having everything black, exept the fluid, which will be blue.

And as the title says, I havn't found a name yet for this build, I'll think about it, but I'm open to suggestions, since I am very bad at naming things.

(I don't know why but it seems like I can't get rid of that failed upload)

Surprised that you went with 10/16mm and not 12/16mm considering the OD.

Probably worked out cheaper?

I didn't know which size to pick (I'm new to watercooling), in the end I just went with what linus used in his "overkill watercooled build log"

Wouldn't be too bad anyway. OD thickness is the same so it would still be easy to work with.

More than enough power with that PSU too. Hopefully the 6700K is a good clocker.

Yeah, I would probably have been okay with just a 850W or lower, but I wanted this one, it's sexy !

I sure hope so.

More Pictures !

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, it's been a long time since my last update on this build.

It's now mostly done, I left it leaktesting for 4 days.

I still need to add some things like an HB SLI bridge (when I bought all the part HB SLI Bridges were out of stock), some lighting, some dye to the coolant...

I havn't overclocked yet, but I will be soon, but I think i'll wait a bit more, as I suspect there are still air bubbles in the blocks (The CPU temps were a bit weird in the beginning, it was reaching 80C under load, it's getting a lot cooler now).

Also, I made a planning mistake, and bought 3 pins fan so i can't control them with my 4 pin fan splitter (and I don't have enough fan connector on my mobo to power them all, plus it would make a clable mess) but then I don't know how I will go with this.

TL;DR ? Here are some pics, tell me if you want more :

That looks great. Make sure that the HB bridge fits alongside the GPU terminal block though.

I actually havn't thought of that thanks.

I was thinking of getting the EVGA bridge, it looks like it should be able to fit, what do you think ?

Also, is it normal that my CPU runs at higher temps than my GPU ? (Sometines it can be 10C higher)

The EVGA bridge should be fine with the terminal block. The nvidia bridges caused some problems.

And yeah, for me the CPU is around 10C. Two GPUs + CPU in one loop is quite the heat output
