High cpu usage @ Idle and bad Sata?

Just performed a clean install on my desktop as it was acting up after the anniversary update. Just going over some things and it is looking like the CPU is running at 100% even at idle. Are there that many background process running or do I maybe have a problem I don't know about? Any help would be appreciated.

Could be a bug 24 million % usage sounds fishy.

24 million? I take it that was a joke, I hope. Anyway I am also worried this hard drive is getting ready to die as I am still having problems. What are some good free programs to monitor my computer?

If you JUST did a fresh install, then Windows (10?) is downloading and installing updates in the background.

What points to that more is by the activity of your HDD, and WiFi usage.

 

Nonetheless you can check if updates are being downloaded yourself.

 

From experience now, Windows Updates pretty much gets priority #1 when it runs (uses up ALL the CPU).

I've had times where games will lag and crash mid-way through...only to find out Windows decided to perform a bunch of updates out of nowhere.

I will keep an eye on it over the next couple of days but I don't think that is the issue.

Ok after the computer acted up again and the bios couldn't read the hard drive I switched Sata ports. That seems to have made a big difference at least as far as the hard drive is concerned. Now though this has me worried my mother board may not have much longer.
