Wanted: an alternative to skype

samcool55

I think the title is clear, i am searching an alternative to skype to use with my friends.

What it must be able to do:

-Group chat

-Video conversation between 2 persons, not needed in a group

-Voice chat in group

-Android app, only sending text is enough, no videochat or voicechat needed

Not a must, but handy to have:

-Screen sharing

-Transfer files

-No ads (really a detail)

-anonymous (i know this is barely possible, that's why it is not a must)

If u know an alternative that is worth to try, please let me know!

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

Google Hangout?

google hangout works so much better for me than skype. main reason why i use it is because i can group video call for free with no ads and i can choose the quality of streamed image

google hangouts ticks all the points you mentioned but im not shure about "anonymous" i guess you can create 2 accounts - 1 personal and 1 anonymous one

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 570 Super Overclock (@910-970mhz, @2100mhz), CPU: Intel core i5 760 (@3.3-4.2ghz) (4 cores), HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 160gb, 500GB (DEAD)RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333mhz, MOTHERBOARD: Asus P7H55/USB3  PSU: Antec Truepower 550 80+bronze

if you need the android app there is viber.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.viber.voip
it also has a windows program.
it has VOIP on both win and android. (I'm not sure if it works in group)

the win program has a video chat in it which is in beta (never tried it myself)

it's not anonymous => it uses your phone number.

hope it helps

Normally i won't have a problem with anonymity, but with something from google not so sure about everthing... but i will give it a try and see if it really is as good as you say, and if it is well i will stick with it unless there is a better alternative.
