is 16 gigs of ram really worth it

do i need 16 gig of ram for editing/playing gmod, beam.ng, jc3, and tf2, it is either 16 gig or an 8 gig with cooler

8gb is still doable on a budget. If you're not doing any extreme editing, then 8gb will be fine. My desktop still only has 8gb. But if you're getting a cheap motherboard with only two RAM slots, then if you choose to get 8gb of RAM, make sure to get a single 8gb stick rather than two 4gb sticks.

 

But 16gb gb of ram really isn't that expensive.

16GB is nice, but it's easier to add 8GB more RAM later (for about 40 USD). Go for a cooler now and some more RAM later (if you feel like you could use it)

 

EDIT: just make sure you CAN add 8GB more RAM later, so either get 1 8GB stick if you only have two RAM slots on your board or just go for 2x4GB if you have a board with 4 RAM slots.

Most of the time it doesn't matter much for me but I often run servers for my friends on my computer while playing with them on said server thus getting so use of the extra, video editing/rendering are what uses more ram as for games only a few use more than 8GB (Black ops 3 for example) so I'd get the 16 gigs but if your on a budget just give it a pass for now

128gb is worth it. It all depends on what you are doing though. If you aren't into hard effects in AE 16gb is good. If you are, 128gb is fine.

is 16GB worth it? for my use case - YES!

I can turn off page file without any issues, so far; still keeping an eye on it

Yes that is no life, but still only using PC for games and porn, you only need 4-6GB for this.
