Go for a 2TB Western Digital Blue HDD. Games are taking up more hard drive space than ever before, and if you want more than 5 current games on a hard drive at once, you're going to have to upgrade it. I would also suggest upgrading from your 280X 2 + RX 480. If you're not brand dependent, I would suggest the 1060, from Nvidia Kama because it performs a lot better than the RX 480 in almost every situation, as long as you're not playing the 2016 Doom.

Personally I'd plan for Mobo, CPU and memory first. Get a better backbone in place first then build off that.

- Silverstone TJ08B-E - Gigabyte Z87M-D3H - i7 4770k @ 4.0GHZ 1.2v - 16gb Kingston HyperX Black 1600 - Gigabyte GTX 770 OC 4GB -

- Silverstone Fortress FT02 - MSI Z77 Mpower - i5 3570k @ 4.0GHZ 1.09v - 8gb Mushkin Blackline 1600 - MSI GTX 670 PE -

- Lenovo T430 (1600x900) - i5 3210m - 8GB DDR3 1333 - nVidia NVS5400M - 256GB mSATA OS - 320GB HDD-

Yeah, do you know what your mobo is?

I'd save up and do a complete rebuild.

If you're doing fine with that set up now, why upgrade? Plus the main components aside from the video card will all need to be replaced at once.

Yea pretty much, but you seriously need some better storage man, even a 1TB HDD will do fine just get rid of that godawful 320gig. You can upgrade that without replacing your entire system, and their not that expensive. otherwise cpu. fx 8350 is really good for the price, and will pair fine with a 480 or 1060. just like like 8 gbs of ram, since its ddr3 you should be fine on price and for the mobo:

I wouldn't recommend buying an almost 4 year old processor. It's not worth the money, and since he might not even be able to OC with that motherboard (don't know if it's one of the one's that can handle the extra draw). If he has to buy another motherboard? Even less value.

Yeah, isn't there something called a Zen processor or some crap like that coming out in a couple of days?

I know what mobo is. I was looking at HHD already had to delete games for new. I would love a new fresh system I would have a huge cart just hovering on buy now; but I have a very limited budget married with house and stuff. I was looking at the power color red devil RX 480 8 GB and a 1 to 2 TB HHD  and go from there but the 1060 is a good option and will be in consideration. This was the best a could afford and am stuck with saving 10 to 50$ a month  if I'm lucky for any new hardware. I just got out of console gaming frustrated about its limitations and loving how much more I can do on a outdated machine understanding what it can't do.
