Best CPU & Mobo for CSGO Under $160 (Can Overclock)

What is the best mobo and cpu combo for csgo for around $160, I have a gt 630 as a gpu and need to get cpu and mobo, I mainly play csgo so ya. Thx!

G3258 and AsRock Z97 Anniversary (Cheapest overclocking motherboard)

I can agree with that.

You can push that CPU to like 4,2GHz and even more with just a little work.

 

It's not the beest motherboard, but for that price it's probbably not a bad deal.

That motherboard is one of the best for its price actually.... For just $85, other manufacturers charge you that much for B85 boards!

As the others have said, G3258 and Z97 though my choice would the MSI PC Mate.

While it should satisfy his needs, he has no upgrade path, whereas with intel, he can get an i5 or an i7 later...

I dont think that is the question here. When he wants to play mainly csgo and games in that category and performance demand then AMD i think will give him the best performance for the price or no?

Both this motherboard and the AsRock One are pretty much equal.... I think that he should buy whichever is cheaper where he lives...

I would highly recommend upgrading the GT 630 too , my friend which is currently using a GT 630 is having FPS problems when the smoke in CS:GO shows up on his screen , so you might want to factor in a much better GPU in my opinion . He is playing on medium settings and even has a Intel i7-4770K with it , so I would recommend switching up your graphics card to something that might give you an edge in that competitive game .

from my experience people who play on Toast PCs and are somewhat above avarage in the game tend to get too comfortable to smoothnes after they upgrade to better pc and lose some of their reaction time since they dont have to be on edge all the time.

CS:GO uses 4 threads, and the i3 has 4 threads...

Going with Intel, with amd you will have to use better heatsink for overclocking
