Is This OC Safe?

As the title says is this OC safe to use for Six Months

Prior to this the CPU was running at 4.2Ghz with 1.3V and its been on that for 2 years.

too much voltage is a guarantee in having your chip die sooner, and again its random, we cant tell you how long it will last every cpu is different, even the same model ones are

It's a gamble past that, your tolerance will vary.  I think 1.5 is still considered safe by intel but not by most enthusiasts, and it will degrade the chip. But if you feel like gambling with a pentium then I would shoot for 1.45.  1.6 will probably kill it sooner or later (but not much later).

Well, we really can't say. That kind of damage typically accumulates slowly, but there's probably a voltage that can just kill it relatively quickly. 1.63 V is much more than I would've dared, to be honest. I would just settle on the best overclock you can manage at about 1.4 V.

 

Keep in mind that heat is not the only thing that can kill microprocessors. Heat is often a byproduct of raising the voltage, yes, but a very high voltage can kill a CPU all by itself. Even if the temperature is safe.

Voltage is high, as everyone has been saying. There is no way to know how long the chip will last though. Even with acceptable thermals, pumping that much voltage through a chip can do damage on its own. That being said, the G3258 is pretty cheap. You could always just leave it there and see what happens. If you break it, just get a new one. Like someone else said, there is no real way to predict just how long it will last. If you're lucky, it could be a year or more. If you're unlucky, it could die in the next 60 seconds.

 

Mighty impressive though... 4.7GHz? my 6700k doesn't even want to do 4.7 GHz lol.

1,6V is absolutely not safe.

I wouldn't ever go over 1,4V and even that seems kinda bad.

I got an AIO on the sucker and it its stable at 1.37 @ 4.6 GHz... I could MAYBE get it stable at 4.7, but at 1.44V I start getting into high 80's for temps. and its not 100% stable even at that voltage. Gonna get a new case though, the airflow on the radiator mount in my case is fairly choked so cooling isn't the greatest.

 

Not to make this thread about me or anything, but I hear plenty of guys getting 4.8GHz on like 1.25V-1.3V lol. Silicon lottery is a betch =(

on mine the highest i tried is 4.5 and i can get that on 1.25v but with the 212 evo the temps go in the 90's, im upgrading soon so i can hopefully get it to 4.6

My brother broke his G3258 by thinking voltage is more important than clock speeds. It reached 107C before there became as much smoke as an ncix tech tips case flow video. Keep turning down the volts for what and clocks up.

He has already stated that his temps are around the 60C area. Temps aren't an issue for him, but temps also aren't the only issue you can have

I'd personally dial it down a bit or just try another 3258 since they're dirt cheap and sell yours on Ebay.  I always keep it under 1.5v on Haswell for 24/7 even if I'm only hitting 60°c (since I'm delidded and running naked I'm always pretty cool).  My 3258 is running 4.4GHz 1.39v 24/7 for about a year now with no issues with a hyper 212 evo.   just know that 1.5v+ is a lot and it might start becoming unstable and requiring more voltage for the same clocks but maybe it won't.  a former ltt user likes to run absurd voltages on a regular basis and said he hasn't noticed any degradation at all

Something is wrong with your voltage sensor/CPU-Z sensor if it's 1.632v under load and only 60c, that's a ~1.3v-1.4v temp on a G3258.  Something isn't reading the voltage properly.
