USB hub is probably cheaper, but not nearly as elegant.

USB hub will be hidden as well as the USB cables connected to it. What is the purpose of this thing?!

I mean its pretty obvious. You either have a seamlessly integrated addition to your PC which adds more ports like they were always there, versus having to run a cable out of your PC, into a hub, which has to sit on your desk, and then you plug stuff into that. It has an obvious purpose, is it worth it to you? Thats for you to decide.

If you have more Devices running simultaneously at full speed than you have connections on your MB.
