I used to have the 550W GS and never had any problem with it, EVGA makes has great PSUs. I now have a 1000W G2 from them. Going by this, the difference between them is the manufacturer. The GS is made by Seasonic while the G2 is made by Super Flower. Further the GS has a 120mm fan whilst the G2 has a 140mm, but that'll only make a tiny difference.

[Edit] To actually answer the question :P Both are great units and you can't go wrong with either of them. The G2 is probably the better one.

Can anyone let me know if the EVGAsuperNova GS 550w is any good compared to the G2 version and if there is any difference in quality?

The G2 is built better and performs better electrically. I have a 550W GS in the system I'm typing this on and it's not super quiet. The 120MM fan is partly the source of this but it's also got a less aggressively quiet fan curve compared to the G2 or a Corsair RMx/RMi.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

noise isn't an issue as long as it's not as loud as like a stock AMD or Intel fan haha

A stock Intel fan shouldn't be too loud depending on what CPU you put it on. I know from experience that a stock CPU cooler on an i5 4460 makes literally no noise under max load.

Anyways, it's not super loud but before I put system fans in my PC it was the only thing I could here. The Noctua P12 on my CPU cooler was completely silent, of course, but I could hear the GS and it was a little annoying when a G2 at the same load would not even spin the fan.
