I am trying my first serious overclock on my 8350 and am running into issues. I can only get  an extra 200 MHz out of my CPU and to keep that stable i had to add .015 V to the CPU. I have tried adding more volts to get a higher ratio (I'm adjusting ratio not FSB) and cant get any high without temperature becoming a concern. My process has been start at defaults, turn off features like AMD Cool n Quiet and others, and then bump up the ratio incrementally until i fail a Prime 95 test. At that point I add volts until that speed is stable, and then continue as high as I can while keeping temps low. Am i doing something wrong or did i just loose the "Silicon Lottery".

what kind of CPU cooling are you using? maybe your cooler can't dissipate the extra heat generated by the overclock?

Since you're using a MSI 970 GAMING it's probably having a hard time keeping up.

Although it is 6 + 2 it shouldn't be having too hard of a time.

PCPer even got 4.8 out of a 8370: http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Motherboards/MSI-970-Gaming-Motherboard-Review-AM3-Gets-Something-New-Change/Power-and-Overc
