Yes, just make sure the two are put together correctly so they fit in the slot.

Yea the 20 + 4 pin plug fits in the 24 pin connector.

The 20 + 4 means that the 4 pins aren't attached to the 20-pin connector so the extra 4 pins aren't blocking compatibility with a 20-pin connector.
