Free video editing?

Don't you have Windows movie maker installed already?

Jokes aside, no free software can stand up to payed. Have a look at Sony Vegas if you'll continue to edit video, but until then I'd say stick to Windows movie maker.

I actually tried movie maker a couple of months ago, cant renember what for, but I couldent remove the sound of an mp4 or avi file.

Lightworks is free for most effects and 1080p, I use it to stick videos together and compress them, it takes a while to load but has never crashed in 1+ years

According to the Lightworks webpage it's just 720p

12.6 added 1080p on vimeo setting, you don't have to upload though and can save to local storage
