Powering GTX 1070 question

I've just got my MSI GTX1070 Gaming which is huge upgrade from my previous GTX560Ti. The problem however is that I've lost my extra power cables that came with PSU(Corsair 650w modular).

 

The question would be:

 

I have 2x 6pin connectors that used to power my gtx560Ti, however both of these connectors have 2 extra pins. I've tested and it fits nicely but I'm not sure if it's ok to do like that.

Yep. thats perfectly fine and exactly how its intended. You will be 100000000% ok like that.

Most PSUs today only have 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, since it makes the PSU compatible with the greatest number of video cards. That's the right connector. :)

Thank you for your replies. Now I just have to do some case modding because my NZXT Guardian is too small to fit MSI Gaming 1070 :D The CD bay bottom part causing some issues
