What port to use for minecraft server?

What port should I use for a Tekkit Server? I want to play with one of my firends. I know the default is 25565 but that is blocked by my ISP. Anyone else know of ports I could use?

I think you can use any port. Just make sure that when you give them the ip, you add :#portnumber. example "73.623.21.885:25577

Really, any will work, just make sure not to use any ports that are already used, such as 80.

 

just check to see that the port you are using doesn't interfere with any on this list.

in essence, if you want to run you server on port 12345, check the list, and make sure none of the programs on your computer interfere (in the case of 12345, don't run a cubeworld server, and don't use netbus administration tool)
