Hey guys

My friend wants to build a PC this month, he said he has some awesome deals that last only in October. He didn't set the budget, he just said that he wants the best bang for his buck that can run new titles on high/ultra settings. He wants it to be expandable and OC'able, so he can throw new stuff in there later down the road and OC at least the CPU slightly. He wants his rig to be silent because he will be putting it on his desk pretty near to his head and he has pretty good ears and constant fan noise would annoy him. Color scheme wise, he wants a black base with metallic/blue accents.

So without further ado, here is what I came up with for him:

CPU:  Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£167.99 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler:  Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  (£23.98 @ Scan.co.uk)
Memory:  Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  (£65.98 @ Amazon UK)
Storage:  A-Data Premier Pro SP900 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  (£74.99 @ Ebuyer)
Video Card:  MSI Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card  (£232.55 @ Scan.co.uk)
Total: £841.22
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

He will get a second GPU when this one won't last. He has some nice deals for the CPU, RAM, board, GPU and PSU, he will also get 5 games with it and a 5.25" USB 3.0 thing.

Would you suggest anything else or should I present this to him?

My rig: CPU: Intel core i5 4670K MoBo: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 2x4GB 1600mhz CL9 GPU: EVGA GTX780 SC ACX SSD: ADATA Premier Pro SP900 256GBHDD: Western Digital RED 2TB PSU: FSP Aurum CM 750W Case: Cooler Master HAF XM OS: Windows 8 Pro

The ram is a bit overpriced, but everything else looks good.

It's on the sale I mentioned so it's for the price of more mainstream RAM kits.

I would probably still get a different set. I think think the Vengeance have some compatibility issues with some of the higher end heatsinks if he ever decides to change it.

@lachyman I might also add that you could consider the Sapphire 7970. I think it comes out to 10$ less than the TF 7970 and has a blue PCB so that would match pretty well. You could put the extra 10$ towards a better heatsink or a 840. damn rebates nvm

I'd get some noctua fans for the system. My R4 isn't "quiet" but that's because my top is open for my radiator. Other than that it's an amazing case.

My Gaming Rig;  Motherboard - ASUS Maximus VI Hero | CPU - Intel i5 4670k @4.5Ghz 1.25v | GPU - GIGABYTE GTX 980 @Stock | RAM -  16GB Corsair Vengeance @1866Mhz | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i | Storage #1 - Samsung 840 Basic 250GB SSD | Storage #2 - Sandisk II 480GB SSD | Storage #3 - 2TB 7200rpm 64mb HDDPSU - Corsair HX750 | Case - Fractal Design R4 |

Well as I know him he doesn't like big heatsinks so if he ever decided to OC his CPU further he will probably get the H100i, and the Vengeance Pro is so sexy.

He has it for €60 which is less than most 2x4GB 1600Mhz CL9 kits here.

Use the UK pcparpicker, everyone here is assuming your friend is American since you're using the US version of the site.

I tought that people will read that I am in the EU and deduce that I probably don't make friends on the other end of the world, but well, I'll try to change it if UK version lists all the hardware that I have here.
