Hi guys,

I went to try and overclock my 4790k on my MSI Z97-G45 Gaming Motherboard. Cooled by NZXT Kraken x61

Now on to my problem.

When i set any vCore voltage and run stress tests Cpu-Z and OCCT show 1.3 volts and above. I set my voltage to 1.225 in override + offset mode (+0.050v) but the voltage always goes above 1.3 volts. Changing the mode to Override or Adaptive doesnt help and there is no "manual mode" on this motherboard. I can set the VCCIN and Ring voltage and it works fine but i cant get it to work with the core clock. This gets me to above 85°C in under 5 minutes...

Will try and upload a screenshot of my settings later.

Edit: The multiplier is x46

Edit#2: Updated the BIOS, did another CMOS flash and it still immedeatly spikes to 1.36 volts...

try using Intel Extreme Tuner, might help with your problem, or atleast to find what is causing your problem because you dont need to constantly go into the BIOS

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I did it from scratch

Edit: Uninstalled Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, wich was installed when i first build the PC and did a CMOS flash. Didn't help..
