How to stop a SYN Flooding Attack

Do anybody know how to stop a SYN Flooding Attack?mine is not so often but happens a out every 5-10 minutes.whent it happens my connection slows down.i have enabled firewall on the router.i am using a d-link dir 615 router by the way.

In this video it does not explains how to set up ASA(I don't know what is this anyway) and I also need someone to explain to me specifically how to stop the attack since I know nothing bout networking...but thanks anyway
