Quite clearly the CPU heatsink has a place for thermal pads for cooling the VRMs. But there are no thermal pads, and no signs of there ever being any.

I believe it is direct-contact.

If you have some that are the right thickness looks like it would work there, probably something they implemented and found it wasn't required or only for models that use a lot of power.

Just cover the whole thing in thermal paste. I did that in my PC and now its a quantum computer. :D

i5 6600k and GTX 1070 but I play 1600-900. 1440p BABY!

Still, don't put too much faith in my buying decisions. xD

Have to be cautious some thermal paste have conductive material in it, you don't want to bridge a connection between two things that aren't meant to be connected
