I built my current pc about 9 months ago and i built it in a Phanteks Enthoo Pro. Turns out when I built the pc that the cables were too short to route through the back. I was wondering if I should get a better power supply with longer cables or if I should just get longer cables if that is even possible.

You can get cable extensions and that will work.

EDIT: The Rosewill Hive kinda sucks though, might be in your best interest to get a new PSU ;)

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Does it matter to you? Is your pc set up with leds in a good case? If not. And it just sits in your room never getting much attention unless you are repairing.. i wouldn't...Now if you happen to be growing money out your ears and getting more bored by the minuet.. Sure... buy it

Get a new PSU. Get one from the PSU list in my signature Tier 1 or Tier 2 recommended. I would recommend an EVGA G2 or if you want a slightly cheaper alternative with a rebate. I actually just bought this one for a friends budget build.

@STRMfrmXMN is the best authority of PSU's around these parts though.

Yea cable extensions will work fine, i'm using one atm for the 24-pin and one for the 8-pin for my system because they were also too short by default and never had issues with it.

I assume that the 24 pin extension cable for the motherboard would connect to the default psu 24 pin cable? Also does anyone know of any good power supplies around $50-$70 that is fully modular. I might just get sleeved cables instead of using the regular default cables.

You having difficulty routing the 24-pin? What about the 8-pin EPS12V connector? The original Hive's 24-pin had a cable length of around 500mm, IIRC which is indeed rather short. While the newer Hive S 750w should be 570mm if it is the same as the 1000w model.  Since it's 9 months old, I'm assuming you got the newer model. The Seasonic G has a 550mm cable which as you can see in this picture, it should reach.

Spoiler

168275.ff7c55f87c72ce016cbf0edf6388b104.

So my question is, is it actually too short or it just barely reach and hard to maneuver? If it's the latter, have you tried to mount the PSU after you plugged in the cables? If you have the PSU mounted to the case first, it may be more difficult to plugged it into the MB as you don't have much grip on it, as opposed being able to hold on to the entire PSU with the cables already plugged in (of course, you want to do this with care).

The original High Power B14C based Hive 750w was a decent budget units with independent regulation from it time. If you got the newer Hive S model, it should be based on a newer model with DC-DC with a better 12V rating than the original (can't recall the specific platform, but it's also manufactured by High Power). Both model should be fine to keep and used if you could save some money to used an extension on the cable to have it reach.

This isn't relevant to you but to anyone else is reading this, this should be confused with the lower wattage 550-650 Hive S models which is based on a much inferior platform than the original (same as the NZXT Hale82v2, IIRC).

Actually, forgot to mentioned it after typing that up, the EPS12V connector is 550mm on the original and the newer one is 610mm. The Seasonic G is 550mm. If you have the original and there's no slack in that cable, then it is indeed too short to have the PSU cover installed from the looks of things, in which you would want something like this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200124

edit: Oh, a 550w PSU can indeed power a system with a 1070. Even a good quality 450w can as well for that matter.
