How long will it survive?

I wouldn't say so. Run some tests on it, see how it holds data, check it's integrity, speeds, ect. If it all comes back clean, it'll probably be alright. The power on count is really quite absurd, so either that's some sort of error, there was an issue with the computer it was plugged into, or if it could be the drive itself. If the tests come back clean, I'd say it's good enough to store non-essential things on. Game files, ect.

Hi! ^^

I've just bought and installed 2 "new" used HDDs

Samsung SP1603C 160 GB

Seagate ST3160815AS 160 GB

Samsung - Copy.jpgseagate - Copy.jpg

They were quite cheap, so I've bought them, at least no rellocated soctors ^^""

One will be for Linux, other for misc. storage

Samsung seems to be OK, despite 4+ years of work

The question is:

How the hell Seagate is so beat up and how long it will live? Can I trust it at all? :D 'Cause motherboard warned me, "better you remove this sh*t" and Windows suggested me to make backup :D

Wow. Based on those figures, that drive was powered up and powered down every 13 minutes over the span of 2 years.

No wonder it's not happy.

S.M.A.R.T isn't saying it's bad though, it's just saying that it's passed it's expiry date.

He's not company or organisation, just a random guy, I have no idea where he got them)
He was also selling IDE drives and some more SATA drives)
