All GPUs will overclock differently. Start by adding 10MHz to the core clock and testing for at least 10 minutes before adding another 10MHz. Once it starts artifacting go down 10MHz and do exactly the same with the memory. Doing this shouldn't significantly affect the temperatures.

Side note: You can do your first 4-6 jumps in 50MHz intervals.

How much would you recommend to overclock my MSI 960 4gb. Without risking overheat and what shall i set my fan speed to? Ill probably use MSI afterburner. thanks in forehand for answers

Overclocking is all dependent on your personal circumstances and overclocking capacity can change from system to system.

There are many variables to overclocking

1. The card itself and its individual specifics

2. Ambient temperature

3. System airflow

4. Multiple other things,

As long as your card stays below 80 you should be fine.

Also remember to stress test for a good half an hour to an hour.

I wouldn't recommend playing with voltage unless if you know clearly what you are doing. the best start is by sliding the power limit to +20% effectively increasing overclocking potential by 20 times and do the steps recommended by @TheRandomness .

Without voltage, I got my cards from

Core- 1010

Mem.- 1450

to

Core- 1120

Mem.- 1500

Without extra voltage.

(Memory isn't as important as core clock, I got better performance by pulling memory clock speeds down and increasing core speeds).

I suck a typing, preparw for typos.

Just play around with it, and increase by 10MHz each time.

Monitor your temps and see if there are any problems with picture.

If you are using MSI Gaming GTX 960 2G OC, I would say that you can expect +100MHz on core.
