I had a basic gaming PC with R9 270 that did run Witcher 3 and some other lighter games. Recently I've decided to upgrade it as new graphics cards arrived and prices here and there started to drop. I'm thinking about getting a nice freesync monitor so I've looked for AMD cards. RX 470 wasn't much cheaper than RX 480 and I didn't saw any non-reference 480 available. I've looked on ebays for second hand freesync compatible and somewhat stronger cards, but the prices were to close to new 470/480. Then I've noticed a "clearance" popping out for R9 fury in (at least) one of German shops: ~$395 instead of ~$707 R9 Fury costs in Europe. As R9 Fury is only a bit better than RX 480 (~$327) that price made sense so I bought :)

As it needs 2x8 pin connectors I upgrade the power supply to Chieftec GDP-750C - 750W Gold. As my PC cheapo I-Tec case had no filters (and tons of mesh) it passed air as well as dust. So I've upgraded that to Fractal Design Define R5 - with dust filters and sound dampening. And when all is in upgrade mode I've also put in second hand ASRock Z170 Pro4S as well, although it won't be busy with i5-6600 (non-K)

The end result:

2x SSD + 1x HDD for Windows 10 stuff, where as 2x Linux SSD will be mounted on the back. I've removed the mid and top drive cage from the chassis. Power supply screws provided with it didn't fit the power supply (like a bit to wide thread) so I had to use some of my generic ones. As for the power supply - SATA power connectors alongside thick and rigid cable aren't that handy when your disks are next to each other ;) I've tried a 2,5" to 2x3,5" adapter but that can't screw to the drive holder as it's side screwed (easy doubling of SSD placements).

But in general It's very quiet and does the job done. Quite heavy and big ;)

R9 Fury vs R9 270 benchmarks:

Unigine Heaven

Mode:
1920x1080 8xAA fullscreen
Preset
Custom
Quality
Ultra
Tessellation:
Extreme

R9 Fury got 64.1 FPS, 24.8 min.

Unigine Valley

1920x1080 8xAA fullscreen, Extreme HD

R9 Fury got 73.3 FPS, 32.1 min

Userbenchmark:

- R9 270 in old PC: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/996141

Furmark:

- R9 270: http://www.ozone3d.net/gpudb/score.php?which=293060

With Furmark R9 270 got up to ~66C, where R9 Fury reaches ~78C. CPU when not used very much was freezing at 35C.

And Linux benchmarks to follow. Mostly to compare RAM, with like 3200MHz sticks on RAM-dependant applications and others. SSD performance is even more wicked - like my Intel 330 (SSDSC2CT12) rekts few other SSDs I have on write barrier performance and some read tests ;)

What?

Why does everyone expect for flawless cable management? Try cable managing my PC...the fan controller, 7 fans, 2 pumps  makes it an impossible task for it to be clean...not mentioning the 4 molex devices I have...

The thing is he does not have that stuff + look at the management you can see above the cages there's that big hole, and out of the hole wires are coming out, that just shows he did not try to hide them with zip tieing or something but rather just sticked everything together

I'm not bashing him but man,if you gotta solid build at least do the cable management properly for it to look good, not to mention its the Define R5 which is a great case
